Memorial Day is presently and most popularly known as the official start of the summer season.  Water parks, neighborhood pools, amusement parks and beaches, to name a few, celebrate their official opening with the closing of the school year and beginning of the vacation season.
 
Our thoughts lean toward the first 3 day weekend with warmer weather, the Indy 500, barbecues, parades, picnics and family gatherings on this holiday weekend, while some forget or overlook the true meaning of this holiday.
