This is the season for membership drives in many clubs.  To members and officers that have been a part of a club for years, the reasons to join their club may seem obvious.  Many think that sharing a passion for a given hobby, competition or collector's platform is enough to attract new members to the club.  Although that is the primary reason for people to join, it may not be enough.  Your club may have many "perks", for it's members, that would make your club attractive to a prospective member.  It's a good idea to bring those advantages to the forefront when recruiting prospective members, as they may not be aware of all of the benefits associated with being a member of your club.  Let's consider a few:

Attracting new members is the lifeblood of any club. No matter how good your club is, statistics tell us that only 60-70% of the members renew year to year. Any higher rate of retention is way above average. This means that in order to actually grow, you have to replace the members who didn’t renew, plus some.  That’s a shocker, huh?

Listed here are a few membership-building ideas that have been used effectively by several or the clubs we work with as well as clubs we’ve researched online. While they won’t all apply to your club’s situation, maybe some can be used to make your group grow.
