After you've created a new page, and installed a new module, there are a couple of things you can do to make your new page/module look better than the default.
For one thing, you will notice a printer at the bottom right corner of the module and a '+' or '-' symbol in the upper right corner. There is a use for these, however we don't use them because we are going for a cleaner look to our pages. The printer icon allows visitors to print the web page from within the program, but everyone knows that you can go to the File menu iin the browser to do that. The + / - icon allows visitors to collapse or expand the module, which we view as an unnecessary feature, since we always want our full page and it's modules to be viewed always. We just design our web sites with a clean uncluttered look and feel about them.
To get rid of these icons when a new module is installed:
- Go to the module settings and expand the 'Page Settings'.
- Click the radio button that says 'None', next to 'Collapse/Expand'
- Then uncheck the box next to 'Allow Print?'
- Click 'Update' and voila, those annoying little icons are gone!
There's also a checkbox for 'Display Container'. This one allows you to display the name of the container (module) or not. We typically add a Text/HMTL module to the top of the page to name the page, since we have more control over the look of the name than if we just use the name of the module. In that case we uncheck the box for displaying the container.
